An amalgamation of styles that works extremely well, while the execution and commitment is to be applauded.
Brighton-based quartet Stone Angels formed in 2011 and after relentless touring throughout the U.K. they are now finally ready to release this, their debut album.
The band manage to merge unashamedly old-school British Classic Rock and Metal with a U.S. Contemporary Alterbridge/Black Stone Cherry/Nickelback – the latter before they went shit (when exactly was that anyway?) – sound, while also throwing in some AC/DC-inspired Rock 'n' Roll riffs and a hint of Mötley Crüe Sleaze.
The likes of 'Misplaced Memories', 'Devil's Child', 'Fantasy', 'Lines In The Sand' and 'Shadows Of The Black Sun' are full of grittily crunching riffs and anthemic gang-choruses, complete with some fiery, wailing guitar solos.
And when they calm things down a little as on 'Last Goodbyes' and 'Thousand Years' they introduce a modern-sounding Southern slant, akin to the aforementioned BSC and what Lynyrd Skynyrd have been doing since 'Vicious Cycle'.
This is nothing new or ground breaking, but an amalgamation of styles that works extremely well, while the execution and commitment is to be applauded.
'Give In To Temptation' – you honestly won't regret it.
