There's a seed of a great band here.
It's certainly unusual thing to find a father and daughter pairing in Rock music, but that's exactly what we get here as Larry and Ashley Worhol have delivered a competent debut that will be of interest to any who like their Rock music to be ethereal and Operatic in tone.
There are immediate comparisons with Evanescence as opener 'Voices From Above' kicks off, mainly because Ashley Worhol has a very similar voice to that of Amy Lee. Further than that, the bands do not warrant comparison too much, as Warhol don't have a male vocalist nor do they ever get very exciting.
In fact, the only track that shows any real vibrancy is the instrumental 'Rage And Revenge', where Larry Worhol gets to let rip a bit in a decent piece of music. Elsewhere the songs are all mid-paced, quite relaxing and often devoid of much real charm.
They tend to be piano-led, with strings wafting in when needed to back up the guitar, and all are quite interchangeable with one another. Ashley Worhol may have what she calls "angelic" vocals, but the song-writing never gives her a chance to show what she can really do.
Ultimately, whilst Warhol initially impress with the vocals and dreamlike quality of the songs, after a few listens it's all rather samey and a bit boring. There's a seed of a great band here, but Warhol and its members need to allow it to grow.
