Melodic rock with a darker, more modern vibe.

Perris Records have released some good rock music in the past such as Adriangale, Enuff Z'Nuff and a whole host of others so when you spot that Jeff Scott Soto was in the production chair for Danger Angel's second album, expectations run high.

Since their debut, the Greek band have recruited lead singer M.T. who has a big voice that has a darker edge and one which you feel a course of Imodium might help alleviate the straining sound of some of his delivery. If you're looking for a Greek version of JSS, you'll be disappointed as although Danger Angel have a tough melodic groove that punches like Talisman, they have an altogether darker vibe, which is more in keeping with modern metal. The album has a spoken dedication at the end of the record for the suppressed and downtrodden, that you sense alludes to the current financial woes in Greece.

Once you've accepted it's not like JSS, Danger Angel do have some songs of note in between a number of more average ones. 'One Hit In The Night' is decent melodic rock and best track would go to 'Dead By Christmas' which has a short sharp riff and infectious chorus that is almost emo, but don't let that put you off as it's a good tune. 'King Of Thieves' has engaging lyrics and 'Road Kill' has a diverting, technically flashy solo. The ballad 'My Last Day On Earth' and the sensible advice on the rocking 'Don't Die Young' have a glimmer of the JSS sound that you might have expected more of what with Soto's involvement.

They've got a meaty sound and if you like melodic rock with a darker, more modern vibe then buy this and help out the ailing Greek economy a bit.
